Our Story

Lupita’s Bakery is more than just another panadería, it’s a deeply rooted family tradition derived from San Pablo, Oaxaca, Mexico. It started with our great-great grandparents back in the late 1800’s and was passed down from generation to generation which continued with our grandparents, Noe and Alicia Morales. In the 1960’s, baking for their community was their ways of means. Slowly, they started creating their signature breads such as our conchas and empanadas de crema that are still enjoyed to this day!

In the early 1990’s, the sons of Noe and Alicia’s gathered to start their own baking business with the same family recipes in Seaside, California. The Morales brothers started San Pablo Bakery in 1991 and the delicious breads and pastries easily won the hearts of the local community. Our father Fidel Morales, went along to start his own bakery and formed Cypress Baking Co. along with his wife, our mother, Claudia Guadalupe Morales back in 2005 and have been recognized all over the central coast of the Monterey Bay!

Since the passing of our beloved mother back in 2014, my brother and I humbly came together to maintain the bakery. It wasn’t easy learning everything from the recipes, baking times, and all the operations behind the business but we were determined to continue the family tradition.

In 2018, because of unprecedented circumstances with our property owner we were forced to relocate overnight. Investors wanted to buy us out and maintain our name with substitute products. We wanted to make sure that our family tradition continued the right way. We relocated and changed our name from Cypress Baking Co. to Lupita’s Bakery to honor of our lovely mother, Guadalupe.

This was one of the toughest periods of our lives as we were struggling to maintain our daily baking schedule all while implementing a new work environment for the few workers who remained with us, whom we are truly grateful for. This really tested our patience and passion but we never gave up and turned a disaster into a triumph. We worked hard to get regular clientele like you to find our new location and retain your loyalty. We truly appreciate each and every visit.

Thank you and we’ll see you soon!
